Generalized Techniques of Selective Harmonic Elimination

-Selective harmonic elimination/control (SHE) has been a widely researched alternative to traditional pulse-width modulation technique. It has been a research topic since the early 1960’s and developed into a mature form during the 1970’s. This report will discuss the generalized techniques of selective harmonic elimination developed in [1] during 1973. And work focus on simulating the results and finding the optimal switching patterns to obtain a harmonic-free sinusoidal waveform with the help of Matlab or Simulink. Numerical techniques applied to solve the nonlinear equations are not list in this paper. However, it will be simply accomplished by the used of Matlab program. It is supposed to eliminating up to three or five harmonics based on selective harmonic elimination. SHE provides several advantages compared to traditional modulation methods, which are acceptable performance with low switching frequency to fundamental frequency ratios, and direct control over output waveform harmonics, are also discussed in the followed section. The subject of the report is to study and overview the SHE technique as a popular harmonic topic currently, and to achieve the desired output waveform of the inverters by using Matlab program.
